Since 2016, WHO/Europe has encouraged regional non-State actors not already in official relations to apply to become accredited to participate in the meetings of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe. This participation mechanism further enhances the ability of non-Sate actors to engage in and strengthen the important work being undertaken in the WHO European Region.

In September 2020, 4 further non-State actors were accredited to attend meetings of the Regional Committee. WHO/Europe is pleased to welcome EUROCAM, the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation, the European Stroke Organisation and the Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention. A full list and details of the successful entities are available at the link below.

Accreditation is a privilege that the Regional Committee may grant to regional nongovernmental organizations, business associations and philanthropic foundations. It includes an invitation to participate, without the right to vote, in meetings of the Regional Committee, and the possibility to submit written and/or oral statements through WHO/Europe.

The deadline for submission of applications to the Partnerships Department is the end of December each year. Follow the link below for information about eligibility requirements, the application and assessment process, the timeline, and other relevant details. Note that this accreditation mechanism does not prevent other non-State actors that may not fulfil all the relevant criteria from participating in activities with WHO.
